You Are an Heir

“Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir.”

Galatians 4:7 (NLT)

An heir is someone legally entitled to inherit property, money, or a title—usually after someone’s death. That’s what makes this verse powerful: since our Savior died and rose again, we have inherited all of His promises.

There are legal benefits to following Jesus, whether or not we use them. But the point is—we already received them as heirs. We don’t earn them through the law. There isn’t a 12-step striving plan to unlock what God promised.

Do you know what His promises are? Peace that passes understanding (Philippians 4:7), provision for every need (Philippians 4:19), eternal life (John 3:16), and the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38) are just a few. These promises are yes and amen in Christ, waiting for you to believe and receive.

Your Heavenly Father wants to give you good gifts. He loves you. So tell Him what you need—without begging. You are His heir.
