What More Could You Want?

“Yet God was not pleased with most of them, and their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.”

1 Corinthians 10:5 (NLT)

Even after walking through the Red Sea, eating manna from heaven, and drinking water from the Rock—Christ Himself—most of the Israelites still didn’t please God. Why? Because they craved evil, worshipped idols, indulged in sexual sin, tested the Lord, and grumbled constantly.

Their rebellion didn’t just offend God. It destroyed them. Twenty-three thousand died from sexual sin. Others from snakebites. Others from an angel of death—just for complaining.

Paul says their story is written as a warning for us. And we should be alarmed. Because we have more than they did. We have the Holy Spirit living in us. We have the full revelation of Jesus. And yet—we still complain.

In a culture of convenience, we’ve grown entitled. But ingratitude is more than bad manners. It’s murmuring against the goodness of God.

So today, let’s repent. Let’s thank God before we ask Him for anything else. If we’re not grateful for what He’s already given, why should He give us more?

Gratitude isn’t just a good habit—it’s God’s will for your life.

“Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”

1 Thessalonians 5:16–18 (NLT)
