True Wealth

“Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.”

1 Timothy 6:17 (NLT)

Paul closes his letter by warning against pride and misplaced trust. Wealth seems secure, but it is fragile. Money cannot guarantee life, joy, or security. God alone gives us what we truly need, and He gives it generously—not sparingly—for our good.

This is a hard word in a world built on chasing more. Paul already said contentment with food and clothing is enough. For most of us, that feels impossible. But when godliness and contentment meet, Paul calls it true wealth. Our striving for “more” often chains us; our trust in God frees us.

The challenge is clear: don’t let money be your master. Use it for good. Share it freely. Be generous with those in need. When you do, you’re storing treasure where it can’t be lost—in heaven.

This is the fight of faith: running from the trap of greed, pursuing righteousness, and trusting the God who always provides. He gives us more than possessions—He gives us Himself. And that is true life.
