“But when I was informed of a plot to kill him, I immediately sent him on to you. I have told his accusers to bring their charges before you.”
Acts 23:30 (NLT)
Paul’s life was spared because a Roman commander refused to ignore an unlawful plot against him. He sent Paul straight to Felix and told the accusers to bring their charges before the one in authority. That line stopped me: “bring their charges before you.” We have an accuser too, an adversary who wages war against us every day. But we have a defender as well.
So here is what rose up in me: take me to court. Let the accuser throw every charge he wants. Let the enemy cast blame, bring up sin, and try to bury me in shame. I am not standing on my own record. I am washed by the blood of Jesus. Revelation 12 says we overcome Satan by the blood of the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, and the word of our testimony. No accusation is stronger than His sacrifice.
That does not mean accusations will not come. Jesus tells His disciples in Luke 21 that they will be dragged into synagogues or prisons before kings and governors because they follow Him. But Jesus also says not to worry about our defense, because He will give us the words and wisdom from Holy Spirit that no opponent can refute. What looks like a courtroom will become a platform. What looks like an accusation will become an opportunity to testify of what God has done.
So go ahead. Let the accuser, the enemy, and every opposing voice take you to court today. Do not be afraid. If there is sin to confess, James 5 says our confession does not bring death. Our confession brings healing because of Jesus. If there is a trial, Holy Spirit will equip you with what to say. Jesus’ blood covers you. Jesus will use the trial to glorify Himself. And no accusation has more authority than what Christ has already done.
