What are you bringing to Jesus today? A need in your own body? A burden for someone you love? A fear about what comes next?
For this Saturday Rewind, we are revisiting “Jesus Is My Healer,” a sermon from Matthew 8:5–17. A Roman centurion comes to Jesus on behalf of his suffering servant. He believes Jesus does not even need to enter his home to heal him. “Only say the word.” His confidence is in Jesus’ authority.
But in the middle of this encounter, Jesus also speaks about the kingdom of heaven. This message invites us to see the whole picture: physical healing and salvation. We can bring our needs to Jesus without losing sight of our need for Jesus himself.
We can seek healing and still miss the Healer.
Together, we will walk through five truths:
- People of faith bring their needs to Jesus. We can bring our real needs and the burdens we carry for others. Our confidence is in Him, not in our own worthiness.
- People of faith recognize Jesus’ power. The centurion trusts Jesus’ word without needing to know how the healing will happen.
- Don’t seek healing and miss the Healer. Religious background cannot replace faith in Jesus. His gifts are not a substitute for a relationship with him.
- Jesus speaks, and healing comes. The healings in Matthew 8 invite us to bring our needs to Jesus and pray with expectation.
- Jesus will make his people whole forever. His sacrifice deals with our sin and brings us near to God. His resurrection victory gives us hope beyond sickness and death.
If you are praying for healing, carrying a loved one’s need, or wrestling with fear, this message is an invitation to bring it all to Jesus. We can pray with expectation today and rest in God’s promise to make his people whole forever.
