“You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich.”
2 Corinthians 8:9 (NLT)
The Macedonians didn’t just give—they begged for the privilege to give again and again. Why? Because they had grasped the gospel at its core. Our whole salvation is built on giving: the Father gave His Son, and Jesus gave His life. Grace always gives.
Paul’s concern for the Corinthians wasn’t their faith, their knowledge, or their passion. They already had those. What they lacked was generosity. He reminded them that God had always provided manna for His people—enough for each person, no matter how much or how little they gathered. And that manna never stopped. Today, God still sends manna, but He does it through His people.
If a believer is in need and goes without, I’m convicted that it may be because the church has been content with gifts, enthusiasm, and love, but not with excelling in generosity. When we hold back, someone else’s “manna” is missing.
The good news of Jesus was never meant to stop with salvation. If we preach and live the whole gospel, the world will change—because manna will keep falling from heaven through the hands of God’s people.
Are you being manna today?
