Let It Go and Grow

“I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives.”

John 12:24 (NLT)

Jesus shows us a kingdom principle that doesn’t make sense on paper: nothing multiplies while we’re still holding onto it. A seed kept in our hand can feed us once, but a seed surrendered to the soil becomes something far greater. Letting go is not losing—it’s planting.

The same is true in our spiritual life. When we cling to comfort, control, or self-preservation, we remain alone, unchanged, unmoved. But when we release our grip and entrust our life to Jesus, what “dies” in us becomes the very thing God multiplies into real, eternal life.

This principle touches everything—our finances, our relationships, our gifts, our influence. Love multiplies when we give it away. Joy increases when we share it. The gospel spreads when we refuse to keep it to ourselves. Holding on dries things up. Surrender brings harvest.

Jesus modeled this perfectly. He became the grain of wheat, choosing death so that countless lives—including yours—could sprout into new life. What are you still holding onto that is keeping you from the life Jesus offers? Put it in the ground. Let it go. Let Him grow it.
