Answered in Real Time

“The Lord said, “Go over to Straight Street, to the house of Judas. When you get there, ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul. He is praying to me right now. I have shown him a vision of a man named Ananias coming in and laying hands on him so he can see again.””

Acts‬ ‭9‬:‭11‬-‭12‬ ‭(NLT‬‬)

In Acts 9, Jesus has stopped Saul on the road, told him to go into the city, and then—without giving Saul the next step—he lets him wait. And what is Saul doing while he waits? He’s praying. While Saul is talking to his new Savior, Jesus is already talking to someone else about Saul.

The Lord calls Ananias by name and sends him to a specific place: Straight Street, to the house of Judas. And Jesus tells him why: “Saul is praying to me right now.” Just sit with that. Saul is praying, and Jesus is answering in real time. God is not distant. He is not delayed. He is moving even when all you can do is wait and pray.

But it gets better. Jesus isn’t only giving Ananias a mission—he’s giving Saul a vision. Saul sees Ananias coming, laying hands on him, and restoring his sight. The Lord is working on both sides at once: preparing the helper and steadying the one who needs help. When God answers, he doesn’t just send direction—he sends reassurance.

And what the Lord showed me today is this: we serve a God of abundance. Saul thought the miracle was getting his sight back, but God had an “also.” Saul didn’t know he was about to be filled with the Holy Spirit, but God knew Saul would need that power for the assignment ahead. Both gifts were provided by the laying on of hands and are exactly what Jesus promised in Mark 16:17-18. So expect God to answer while you pray—and expect more than you thought to ask for. He is the God of overflow, not lack.
