“For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.”
Colossians 1:19–20 (NLT)
Adam’s disobedience in the garden separated mankind from God. To temporarily cover sin, the Jews sacrificed perfect animals, their blood poured out again and again.
But these verses in Colossians show us a greater sacrifice. God sent His only Son—fully God and without sin—to die on the cross. Jesus became the perfect sacrifice once for all.
Through His blood, we don’t just have access to eternal life—we have a constant cleansing from every sin. No more animal sacrifices. The veil was torn, and the Holy Spirit now dwells within us, giving power to obey God’s word.
And here is the “also”: Jesus restored what Adam lost. He wore a crown of thorns so that we could wear the crown of life. Adam took it away. Jesus restored it!
