“Now it is God who enables us, along with you, to stand firm for Christ. He has commissioned us, and he has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything he has promised us.”
2 Corinthians 1:21–22 (NLT)
Paul reminds us that it’s God who enables us to stand firm for Christ. He has commissioned us, marked us as His own, and given us the Holy Spirit as a guarantee of everything He has promised.
We often hear that all of God’s promises are “Yes and Amen.” Christ has already fulfilled every promise—that’s the yes. Our amen—our agreement in faith—ascends to God for His glory. Between the yes and the amen, the Holy Spirit helps us hold on, understand, and believe until we’re ready to pray in faith.
It’s like a wedding ring. The Spirit inside us is God’s constant sign that His promises are guaranteed. When we say amen, we’re not bothering God—we’re glorifying Him. He delights to fulfill the promises He has spoken over His children.
So if you’re living between the yes and the amen, don’t lose heart. That’s where the Holy Spirit works—helping you believe, keeping you steady, and assuring you that every promise of God will come true.
