“Let me clearly state to all of you and to all the people of Israel that he was healed by the powerful name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, the man you crucified but whom God raised from the dead.”
Acts 4:10 NLT
Peter and John are standing in front of the council, and the question is direct: “By what power, or in whose name, did you do this?” It would be easy to defend themselves. It would be easy to make it about their authority. But Peter doesn’t do that. Filled with the Holy Spirit, he answers with clarity.
“Let me clearly state…” This man was healed by the powerful name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene. Not Peter’s power. Not John’s power. The name of Jesus. And Peter doesn’t soften the tension. This is the same Jesus they crucified, and the same Jesus God raised from the dead. The name they rejected is the name doing the healing right in front of them.
That’s why the Cornerstone reference matters in this story. Jesus is not one piece of the building. He is the stone everything rests on. Remove the Cornerstone and the whole house comes down. The builders rejected him, but now they are staring at the power of the Cornerstone they tried to throw away. So the moment demands a response: stay disturbed, stay annoyed, stay hardened, or change your mind and accept him.
And the name is still doing what it has always done. It still heals, and it still saves. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. No other way to receive the covenant of life. So what do you need today? Are you saved, but still needing healing? Don’t reject the Cornerstone. Call on the name of Jesus, and let your life be built on the rock.
Remove the corner stove, the whole house falls down. That is deep. Jesus is the cornerstone so when we remove him from our life, our whole life can go upside down. We were moving from our house, our house will fall apart. We removing from our country and our country is falling apart. very well said!
