“Then he returned to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them…” Luke 2:51 (NLT)
Even as a boy, Jesus amazed the religious leaders with His understanding of Scripture. Yet when His parents found Him in the temple, He didn’t resist or argue—He went home and obeyed them.
Why does this matter?
Because Jesus never sinned (Hebrews 4:15). That means He followed both God’s call and God’s law—including the command to obey His parents (Exodus 20:12). If He hadn’t, He would have broken the Law—and disqualified Himself from being our perfect sacrifice (1 Peter 1:19).
His obedience wasn’t weakness—it was faithfulness. Philippians 2:8 says, “He humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.”
That lifelong obedience didn’t begin on the cross—it began in the quiet, unseen moments at home.
Don’t overlook small acts of obedience. They may feel ordinary, but they prepare you for extraordinary purpose.
