Silence the Enemy

“Well then,” he said, “give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and give to God what belongs to God.” So they failed to trap him by what he said in front of the people. Instead, they were amazed by his answer, and they became silent.

Luke 20:25–26 (NLT)

Jesus wasn’t just smart—He was Spirit-filled. In Luke 20, His enemies tried to trap Him with trick questions, but three times He responded with such divine wisdom that they had no reply. Verse 26 says they were amazed and “became silent.”

But this isn’t just a story to admire—it’s a strategy to apply. Jesus shows us how to handle opposition. Whether the enemy shows up in spiritual attack, lies in our thoughts, or anxiety in our hearts, we’re called to answer with truth. And not just any truth—we need to listen for what the Spirit is highlighting in God’s Word for that moment. Just like Jesus in the wilderness, we silence the enemy by responding with the Word the Spirit brings to our hearts. His Word is specific, timely, and powerful.

You can silence the enemy. Not with your feelings, but with faith. Not with fear, but with the Sword of the Spirit. But don’t just recall the Word—speak it. Pray it. Declare it. Faith isn’t silent. Our sword becomes dull when we keep it sheathed in our minds. Like Jesus, we must speak the Word into our situation, and watch every lie lose its voice.
