One More Chance

“The gardener answered, ‘Sir, give it one more chance. Leave it another year, and I’ll give it special attention and plenty of fertilizer.’”
Luke 13:8 (NLT)

Sometimes we pray once, plant a dream, or hope something will change—and then we walk away, expecting fruit to appear. But the parable of the fig tree invites us to reflect: What do we need to give one more chance?

The gardener doesn’t ignore the barren tree. He promises to tend it, nourish it, and work the ground around it. That’s the key: attention and care.

Are there places in your life where you’ve been waiting for fruit without investing care? Maybe you’ve prayed casually, tried something briefly, or assumed results would just come.

The Lord calls us to persistence—to water, to seek, to fertilize, to ask again and again.

Look what Jesus says about this. “And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.” (Luke 11:9 NLT)

What do you need to give one more chance today? It might result in some figs next year.
