“If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important.”
Galatians 6:3 (NLT)
I laughed when I read this verse today. Paul was stepping on some toes. Then I realized he was talking to me too. Whoops.
The truth is, I’m never too important to love my neighbor. When I make excuses for why I don’t help others, I’m not just ignoring their need—I’m ignoring God’s Word. I’m also robbing myself of what God wants to do through me.
Paul ties this to sowing and reaping: “Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant.” (Galatians 6:7, NLT)
If I refuse to sow kindness, I can’t expect to reap joy. If I sow excuses, I’ll reap regret. But when I choose to sow love, even in small ways, I’ll reap a harvest that glorifies God and blesses me too.
So my prayer today is simple: help more, excuse less. Love deeply. Shine brightly. The world needs it—and so do I. Will you join me?
