“Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him…”
Philippians 3:8–9 (NLT)
We often fall into the trap of comparing our lives to what we see online—highlight reels, achievements, appearances. It leaves us restless and joyless. But Paul invites us to a different kind of comparison: not between us and them, but between everything else and Christ.
When Paul looked at his status, accomplishments, and even religious performance, he said it was all garbage compared to knowing Jesus. He didn’t say those things had no value—he said they paled in comparison. Maybe we’ve just been comparing the wrong things.
If garbage minus garbage equals zero, then only one thing truly adds value to your life: being one with Christ. Yes, God gives good gifts. But the gift isn’t the goal. Jesus is.
Put your faith in Him—not in your feed, your stuff, or your status. Fix your eyes upward. Let Jesus be your joy. He IS more than enough for us.
