Listen Up

“But Abraham said, ‘If they won’t listen to Moses and the prophets, they won’t be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.’”

Luke 16:31 (NLT)

In Luke 16, Jesus tells a parable about a rich man who had everything but ignored God—and ended up with nothing that mattered. The rich man’s eternal torment wasn’t for lack of warning; Abraham said his family had enough truth already. They just refused to listen.

That hits home. In my life, I have no shortage of access to biblical teaching, wise counsel, and the clear voice of the Holy Spirit. The real gap isn’t the warnings—it’s my willingness to listen and obey. Sometimes I’m like that rich man, more eager to satisfy my desires than seek God’s.

But Jesus has risen from the dead, proving every warning true and offering me eternal life. The Holy Spirit is gently helping me shift, day by day, away from fleshly comfort and toward the abundant life God promises.

My prayer today: that I would listen—not just hear—and obey what God is showing me, so I can also help others listen. The warnings are clear. The call is urgent. I want to listen up.

Amen Cory! This is such a needed topic and we should all learn to allow the Holy Spirit to lead, guide and direct our lives!
