Faith Speaks

“The Lord answered, ‘If you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, “May you be uprooted and be planted in the sea,” and it would obey you!’”

Luke 17:6 (NLT)

Even the apostles who had healed the sick and walked with Jesus personally asked Him, “Show us how to increase our faith.” That’s encouraging—because they had seen miracles and yet still felt the need for more faith.

Jesus didn’t give them a formula. Instead, He pointed out that even faith as small as a mustard seed is enough to command a mulberry tree to uproot itself and be planted in the sea. In Mark’s gospel, He says the same thing about mountains.

The truth is: faith doesn’t have to be huge to have huge results. The smallest genuine faith, when expressed in obedience, releases God’s power. What matters is not the size of our faith but that we put it into practice—by speaking, believing, and trusting that God will do what He promised.

Mark 16:17–18 reminds us that these signs follow believers: they will cast out demons, speak new languages, and lay hands on the sick, who will be healed. Healing requires only a little faith—faith that trusts Jesus can heal, that He alone is able, and that we don’t have to run to other remedies first.

So what we say matters. Faith speaks—and situations obey when God works through us. Let’s watch our words, trust God’s power, and remember that even small faith changes everything.
