“Zechariah said to the angel, ‘How can I be sure this will happen? I’m an old man now, and my wife is also well along in years.’” Luke 1:18 (NLT)
Doubt is costly. Zechariah saw an angel and received a word from God—but his first response was doubt. Because of that, the angel shut his mouth until the promise was fulfilled.
Why? Because our words have power (Mark 11:23–24, Romans 10:10–13). Zechariah’s unbelief couldn’t be allowed to speak against what God had already declared. So he was made silent.
But God didn’t give up on him. In Luke 1:63, Zechariah redeemed himself. He aligned with heaven and named his son John—just as the angel said. Then his mouth was opened, and the first thing out was praise!
I want to be like the redeemed Zechariah, not the doubting one. I want to agree with heaven, not echo fear. I refuse to put my faith in lack, pain, or chains.
I choose to be Word fed and Spirit led—speaking what God says, until I see what God promised.
