You gotta show me

“The man replied, ‘The one who showed him mercy.’ Then Jesus said, ‘Yes, now go and do the same.’”

Luke 10:37 (NLT)

“Show and tell” comes up again in Luke 10. In verse 9, Jesus told the 72 disciples to heal the sick and announce that the Kingdom is near—just like He instructed the apostles. This sets the tone for our focus today: a life that demonstrates the gospel. And in verse 37, Jesus shows us exactly what that looks like.

Mercy isn’t something we can just talk about. Loving our neighbor can’t stay in our minds or emotions—it must show up in our actions. The priest and temple assistant walked past their wounded brother, but a Samaritan—his enemy—stopped, cared for his wounds, gave his money, and made sure he recovered.

That’s what the church should look like: not just praying, discipling, and teaching, but also providing a place for people to heal and recover. We must stay with them until the healing is complete. That is what the innkeeper was paid to do.

This is what Jesus has done for us. He didn’t just tell us we are loved—He showed it, by laying down His life.

You gotta show me. We can’t just talk about love—we have to live it.
