Go in Peace

“And Jesus said to the woman, ‘Your faith has saved you; go in peace.’”
Luke 7:50 (NLT)

What an incredible story. My Bible titles this passage (vv. 36–50), “Jesus Anointed by a Sinful Woman.” Normally, someone is anointed through prayer by those in spiritual authority—James tells us to call the elders and be anointed with oil for healing. But the anointing in this story is different.

This woman didn’t come to ask for anything. She came to give. She anointed Jesus out of gratitude. It was an act of worship—getting as low as she possibly could, pouring out her love in a way others didn’t understand.

Her humility revealed her faith, and her faith moved Jesus. He forgave her sins. But He didn’t just save her from something—He saved her to something.

Jesus said, “Go in peace.” That wasn’t a casual goodbye. It was a release. The shame that had driven her to tears no longer had power over her. Her past didn’t define her anymore. She was forgiven—and free to walk in peace.

The peace Jesus offers is more than calm feelings—it’s wholeness. When we walk in His peace, we lack nothing. Jesus makes us complete. Then we think differently, speak differently, and live differently.

I need to go in peace today. How about you?
