Drawn Out for Purpose

“Moses was taught all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and he was powerful in both speech and action.”

Acts ‭7‬:‭22‬ (‭NLT‬‬)

Moses was a beautiful child in God’s eyes, and yet his story starts with danger, hiding, and being let go. His parents couldn’t keep him, so they sent him down the Nile in a basket. But he wasn’t abandoned by his heavenly Father. Out of all the hands that could have found him, Pharaoh’s daughter did—and Moses went from the child of a slave to a son in a royal household.

That’s what grabs me in Acts 7:22. Moses was taught all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and as a result he became powerful in both speech and action. God can take someone the world says is disposable and place them where they receive preparation they never could’ve earned. Moses went from nothing to influence, not because he climbed a ladder, but because God ordered his steps.

And God used that unexpected preparation for a different kind of leadership than anyone would’ve predicted. All that wisdom and training wasn’t ultimately for Pharaoh’s throne—it was for God’s people. God was shaping Moses to lead, to serve, and to carry a calling that would bless generations.

So I wonder what I’m asking God to get me out of right now that he might be using to position me. What if the pain, the waiting, or the hard part is the very thing he’s using to prepare me for what’s next? We must trust God today—he still turns harm into good. And I’m thankful that, like Moses, I was drawn out of the river of this world and into the kingdom of God. So let’s go find some others to draw out of the water too—people God sees beauty in, and people he wants to prepare for Godly purposes.
