Harmony to Heaven

“When they heard the report, all the believers lifted their voices together in prayer to God: “O Sovereign Lord, Creator of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them—”

Acts ‭4‬:‭24‬ ‭(NLT‬‬)

After Peter and John are released by the council and threatened to never speak the name of Jesus again, they immediately return to the other believers and tell them what the leading priests and elders said. I love that they did not hide it. They loved the believers enough as leaders to share what actually happened.

When the believers hear the report, they lift up their voices together in prayer to God. That’s beautiful to me. When we are in unity and recognize the power of God on display, and when we need help from the Lord, lifting our voices together in harmony is like a beautiful symphony to God. He hears all the individual instruments in our body working together to give Him one message.

It’s also making it clear they’re not just lifting their voices singing a song or in worship. They’re lifting their voices in prayer. They’re asking God for help as they sing, and they’re recognizing who God is: “O Sovereign Lord, Creator of heaven and earth, the sea and everything in them.” They’re pointing to His power, not the power of man. They’re entering into His courts with praise and being obedient in this moment.

Today, I wonder what we need to lift our voices together about in our body of believers. What report of the Lord do our teachers and leaders need to share, so we can recognize what God is doing and what we’re believing Him to do? We cannot be unified in prayer and harmony to heaven if we don’t assemble and speak about what God is doing. There is a sound heaven wants to hear from believers today that only occurs when we gather in one accord and ask God to intervene on our behalf.
