“Jesus told the servants, ‘Fill the jars with water.’ When the jars had been filled, he said, ‘Now dip some out, and take it to the master of ceremonies.’ So the servants followed his instructions.”
John 2:7–8 (NLT)
At a wedding in Cana, Jesus, his mother, and his disciples were all guests. When the wine ran out, Mary didn’t panic—she turned to Jesus. Her words, “They have no more wine,” revealed faith before the miracle was ever seen. Though Jesus said His time had not yet come, Mary responded with quiet confidence: “Do whatever He tells you.” That’s not begging; that’s believing.
The servants obeyed Jesus’ simple command. They filled the jars with water and took some to the master of ceremonies. Somewhere between obedience and outpouring, the water became wine. The first miracle of Jesus wasn’t a loud display—it was a quiet revelation. Only those who followed His instructions witnessed His glory firsthand.
This moment shows us how miracles still happen today. We are the jars. Jesus fills us to the brim with His Spirit, and as we pour out what He’s placed within us—love, encouragement, prayer, hospitality—the world tastes something divine. What started as ordinary obedience becomes supernatural transformation.
Jesus still saves the best for last. Every time we trust Him and obey His word, He turns the ordinary into extraordinary and reveals His glory through us.
