“But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.”
John 14:26 (NLT)
I’m encouraged today knowing I don’t walk with God on my own. I have a Teacher living inside me. When I open God’s Word, the Holy Spirit helps me understand what it means—not just in general, but personally. He takes what God has said and makes it clear, alive, and timely for where I am right now.
I’m also thankful that the Holy Spirit helps me remember. There are moments when I need wisdom, strength, or direction, and suddenly a truth God showed me years ago comes back to mind. That isn’t accidental. Jesus promised the Spirit would remind us. What God planted before, the Spirit brings forward right when we need it.
This is how obedience becomes possible. Jesus left. Jesus died on the cross. Jesus rose from the grave. And because we believe in Him, we have the Holy Spirit. He is called a Comforter, Counselor, Encourager, and here Jesus calls Him our Advocate—but He is also our Teacher, helping us know God and walk in His commands.
God promised through Jeremiah that He would write His instructions on our hearts. The Holy Spirit is how He does it. He shapes our hearts, teaches us what is right, and empowers us to live it out. What God says is possible truly is possible—when we follow His process.
